Fabulous Quilt Market Tips just for you!

I made it! Not only did I live through Quilt Market, I loved it.

Quilt Market is such a rush; it’s a great time to get inspired, and regenerated. Just to be in the same convention center with so much talent is overwhelming. I was able to teach a few classes for Shannon Fabrics as well as work in their booth. I came home with so many great ideas and tips. I have so many things I want to share, but today I will share my three favorite finds:

My favorite class was the Rag Quilt. People were so excited with this fun addition. It is a great baby quilt, but will be fun for all ages. It’s easy to make and other than creating a dust storm while clipping, you won’t have any trouble creating a great quilt. Just watch the video in the learning center and you’ll do great. They have also just been added to the Web Store.  I am also cutting more in other colors so keep checking.

My favorite new trick is using Wonder Tape. I had heard of it before, but had never tried it on Cuddle. One of the ladies in my class designs beautiful quilts and uses it to piece them using Cuddle. It is a ¼” double sided tape that won’t gum up your needle and disappears completely in the first washing. She says she can piece a whole quilt top using it to stabilize her seams before sewing them and then machine quilts them. I haven’t tried it yet, but promise a progress report as I do.  It’s on order so we can all give it a try!

Shannon Fabrics introduced 5 new strip kits at Market. I have already received the first three. They are here just in time for Father’s day. Okay, only one is a great Dad quilt; it is designed using the new Pine Ridge collection. The solid is a Pine needle embossed Cuddle that is so rich. It would delight any Dad, or son, or anyone that loves the outdoors. The other two are just happy. Have a great summer. When it gets too hot to garden, you can go in and enjoy the air conditioning and work on a few projects for Christmas. Make someone happy today; make them a “Cuddle Quilt”.
